RE: Anthem Blue Cross
We would like to start by taking this opportunity to thank you for your continued and loyal patronage. We treasure all of our patients, and strive to provide each and every one of you with the best quality care and the most comprehensive and cutting edge treatments as possible.
Anthem Blue Cross has recently partnered with EyeMed Vision Services. This new partnership makes it impossible to continue serving our Anthem Blue Cross patients, and still provide them with the same high level of care and quality prescription materials they deserve, and have come to expect, due to their program limits and constraints. As a result, rather than cutting our level of care, or begin using inferior materials, sadly, we will have to discontinue medical services to all Anthem Blue Cross patients, effective 11/01/2021.
If Anthem Blue Cross changes to another vision co-management company, or reverts back to their current billing practices, allowing us to provide you with proper care again, we will gladly request to be re-enrolled into their program.
If you truly believe that we provide you with the best level of care and the services you deserve, we strongly suggest that you voice your opinions to Anthem Blue Cross directly. You can also make a request to your HR department to change medical plans and/or add a vision plan that we are in network with. This new change ONLY effects medical visits, and will not affect patients who have a vision plan we are already in network with, such as VSP, MES, and Spectera to name a few. If you have one of these plans already, we can continue to see you for your comprehensive visual health exams, we just wouldn’t be able to provide you with any additional services for special testing or further treatment, unless it was private pay (If you have Anthem Blue Cross). If you have any other type of medical insurance plan that we are in network with, then your services remain unchanged. We have also confirmed that Anthem Blue Cross insurance will remain unchanged, if it is a supplemental plan to Medicare – therefore Medicare patients will also see no change.
After consulting with them, many of my colleagues are taking a similar stance, therefore, if you stay with Anthem Blue Cross and by extension, Eyemed, you will have to review their list of providers to find another doctor that can still serve you and meet your needs.
Thank you again for being our patient, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you going forward. We sincerely wish you the best, and hope that we can provide you with quality care again in the near future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shaw Yorizane Jr, OD, TLG, FCOVD, and Staff
